Co-Planning and Co-Teaching Study

This study is being done to fulfill a doctoral program requirement.

Background Information

Problem: Pre-service teachers do not receive sufficient training to co-teach effectively in a general education

setting.

Purpose: This basic qualitative study is to explore perceptions of preparedness for co-teaching by pre-service

teachers at an institution of higher education in northeast Pennsylvania.

Desire: Results of the study will be used to enhance co-planning and co-teaching components of the teacher

candidate program.

Research Questions

Question 1: What are the perceptions of pre-service teachers from an institution

of higher education in northeast Pennsylvania on the co-teaching component of the teacher preparation

program?

Question 2: Based on their clinical teaching experience, what are the perspectives of pre-service teachers at an

institution of higher education in northeast Pennsylvania regarding the programming needs of the co-teaching

component?
